Stages of the RRB ASM Exam
The RRB ASM exam contains two stages that we've mentioned below for your better understanding:
Stage 1 Computer Based Test (CBT): This is the first stage of this exam that is CBT and contains objective type multiple choice questions. There are various topics covered in this exam like General Intelligence, Arithmetic Ability, General Awareness and Reasoning Ability. The duration of this exam is 90 minutes during which candidates will have to answer 100 questions. The minimum qualifying marks for this first stage are determined by the Railway Recruitment Board and may vary. The student needs to qualify for stage 1 to appear for stage 2.
Stage 2 Computer Based Test: This second stage is a more in-depth examination that includes objective type multiple choice questions. This stage also covers the same topics as the previous one but questions in it would be more difficult. The duration of this exam is 120 minutes to answer 120 questions. Same as the previous stage the minimum qualifying marks are determined by the RRB and vary from year to year. Once the person clears stage 2 will be called for a document verification process.

Arithmetic Ability: Time and Distance, Time and Work, Profit and Loss, Average, Simple and Compound Interest, Mensuration (2D and 3D) Algebra, Number System, HCF, LCM, Simplification, Decimal Fractions, Ratio and Proportions, Unitary Method, Percentage and Data Interpretation.
General Awareness: Sports, Books and Authors, Awards and Honors, Science - Inventions and Discoveries, Abbreviations, Important Days, International and National Organizations, Current Affairs (National and International), Major Financial/Economic News, Budget and Five Year Plans.
Technical Ability: The technical ability section of this exam varies as per the ASM post that you applied for and includes topics like signaling, train handling, railway operations and safety rules.
General Intelligence and Reasoning Ability: Direction Sense Test, Logical Venn Diagrams, Syllogism, Sitting Arrangements, Statement and Conclusions, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Analogy, Classification, Coding and Decoding, Series, Alphabet, Blood Relations, Decision Making, Assertion and Reason, Figure Series and Word Building.
